TEACCH Independent WorkSpace

“TEACCH independent work station ” is one of the important work area that I like to set up in my class for certain students. If a student can’t need a structured and consistent work area for learning, This is highly effective and recommended.

The goal is to teach students to complete series of work/task independently. Especially for those who tend to rely on adults and do not initiate often may benefit from this type of activity.

Use a most to least prompt strategy to ensure successful skill acquisition.  At last, the students should complete the tasks without staff support.  It may be for 10-15 minutes at first.  As they can work for a longer and more complicated tasks, this can be ultimately leading into the vocational skills in job settings.
