It has been a wet November and December. Due to the weather condition, I ended up spending more time indoor during weekends.

One of the topic that caught my attention recently was ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Training) which is often discussed on the ABA/BCBA’s FB group.

This video did good job at explaining what the gist of ACT, but there are more things to learn for me. Next big one is called, ACT Matrix, which helps the idea of ACT philosophy be more real and easy to use in the real context.

With a big vertical and horizontal line crossing, we ask our selves these questions:

When do you feel good? or with whom? What’s important to you?
What are some not so good feeling you have?
What would you do when these not so good feelings creep up?
Those behaviors of your doesn’t get you move closer to what makes you feel good. What should you do instead?
Do you notice all these emotions and behaviors of yours?

In short, ACT matrix is about the process of noticing what emotions and behaviors you have(acceptance), and making committed actions to move toward what you wanted to be.
