It has been a year last time I wrote about the international PRT Conference held in Palo Alto. I was very excited to hear that Dr. Koegels moved to Stanford from Santa Babara and continues their great work to benefit many people in the bay area. Finally, I have picked up this book which is a great resource/training manual to understand the basics of PRT and several key components of implementation in my daily teaching routines.
What is PRT?
It’s known that PRT (Pivotal Response Treatment) is one of the most proven behavioral approaches for treating children with ASD. PRT is a naturalistic intervention approach derived from applied behavioral analysis(ABA). It is a play-based approach that targets improving “pivotal” responses in child development instead of individual behaviors. It’s based on the idea in changing pivotal responses would promote global progress in other developmental domains in children. More to read.
Anyone who needs more information, go to Koegel Autism Center and A Closer Look: Pivotal Response Training.
This is 30 min Intro to Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT) by Dr. Lynn Koegel herself. It’s a great resource.
