Positive Behavior Support in Autism Classroom

positive behavior support quote

What is an easy way to promote PBIS? This little laminated sheet from my colleague’s class caught my eye today.

If you see the behavior you want, acknowledge it. If you do not see the behavior you want, teach it.

It makes me wonder how much do we practice this every day at work?

What is PBIS?

Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) is a school-wide effort to create a positive school environment by promoting appropriate behavior and preventing undesirable behavior. It’s a mindset shift. In another word, reinforce desirable behavior by acknowledging and teaching necessary skills if this is an issue of skill deficit. Always reacting to behavior meltdowns never solves the ultimate problem in any setting.

Simple poster and simple words. That’s all we need to remember. 😎
