Evidence Based Practices

One of my co-worker has been working on the project focused on improving EBP in the class for students with autism spectrum disorder.

As a part of participating class, I have been looking into training modules provided from The National Professional Development Center.

Autism PDC

There are many interventions used in the school/home and clinical settings to be able to work with students with autism.

I hear some great stories from this family or this teacher…but I always felt the need for guidelines or science proven(data driven) practices in our classes. So, I could say, I am using PECS for our students because it is one of the EBP, not just because I like it!

Of many many interventions out there, scientific research has found only some of these interventions to be effective.

The interventions that researchers have shown to be effective are called evidence-based practices (EBPs). One reason for using EBPs is because, by law, teaching practices must be based on evidence of effectiveness.
