This is an easy-read book- one of my favorites to understand the field of autism and my thought process when supporting these individuals.

Find more information at Uniquely Human by Dr. Barry Prizant.

Dr. Prizant shares his thoguhts from more than 40 years of experience with children with autism.

He has observed that too many programs for children with autism focus on defining the child as the sum of his or her limitations, or deficits, and spend most of the energy and effort determining how to get rid of those unwanted behaviors. Fixing those problems and making the child look and act “normal” are the main goals. It’s time for a great change. Each one of us may lay on the broad elm of spectrum exhibiting uniqueness. So does he.
