“Count dots..”
“Count touch points..”
That’s how I would normally begin teaching “Touch Math”.
Numbers are abstract concepts for my kids, however, when each number carries its own number of dots(points), now it is a different. We often consider our kids visual learners. So, when it comes to touch math, we rely on their strengths instead of challenges.

Once students become confident with touch points, practice simple addition and subtraction equations with visuals.
For addition, count forward-
For subtraction, kids should be able to count backward.
This is the main reason I count backwards a lot in my circle while helping kids jump on the trampoline or bounce on the ball.
